Description

Made famous by Dread Herald Kephess' use of this walker during his uprising on Denova: Until the introduction of the Galactic Empire's AT-AT it was truly one of the most massive walker-type vehicles ever used. The design of the Warstrider was spearheaded by the Imperial Science Bureau's Research Corps Seven at the request of Darth Tetricious. The walkers were finalized just months before the start of the GGW and only a series of 16 were constructed, two for each of Dread Guard's brigades. Each of these was given a unique name by their crew and used as a tool to sow terror among the enemy formations the Dread Guard would face during the war.

During the conflict itself the Warstriders served admirably. Unlike other walkers of the period they had incredibly well-armored legs, could resist even strafing runs from heavy starfighters, durable enough to take on literally any republic vehicle short of a corvette with impunity. Offensively the Warstriders were also above-average. Their armament primarily focused on targeting large formations or vehicles. The walker was equipped with two highpowered starship-grade 'chin cannons' as well as two pairs of slightly lower powered turret-mounted blasters. The latter were intended to engage broadside vehicles or installations but were largely used to target incoming starfighters/airspeeders with middling levels of success. The Republic had no defense against the Warstrider-Class barring focused high-explosive Baradium rounds to the undercarriage or bombardment by nearby starcruisers or corvettes.

By the end of the war, despite the incredible durability of the Warstrider-Class only 5 remained: 'Victory', 'Vengeance', 'Terror', 'Warspite', and 'Untouchable'. Some of their sister-vehicles were intentionally scuttled when their carriership was destroyed, others were defeated by concentrated fire or simply mechanical failure mid-battle. When the Dread Guard was downsized 'Victory' was sent to the Imperial War Museum on Dromund Kaas, 'Warspite' was transferred to the Arcanum in the Emperor's personal collection, 'Vengeance' and 'Untouchable' were transferred to Darth Marr's Sphere of Defense of the Empire, and 'Terror' was kept in a Dread Guard safehouse in the Outer Rim until Dread Herald Kephess used it in his master's plot to rule the galaxy.
